IT Business Consultant- PIMS

We are seeking a skilled and forward-thinking IT expert to lead our global initiatives in industrial Internet of Things (IoT), IT/Operational Technology (OT) integration, architecture, and security within the Operations Solutions domain. This role plays a critical part in shaping and delivering smart manufacturing capabilities across our production environments worldwide. Key Responsibilities: Lead Global PIMS Solutions: Own the technology roadmap, engineering, implementation, and support for Plant Information Management Systems. This includes integration of manufacturing data into analytics platforms such as AVEVA PI Historian, along with associated interfaces, visualization, and reporting modules. Define IT Standards for Smart Instrumentation: Develop and maintain global IT standards for integrating and managing sensors and intelligent instrumentation in production systems. Manage Client Device Integration: Establish global standards for the deployment and support of production floor client devices (e.g., tablets, smart glasses, headsets). Coordinate OT Security: Oversee and coordinate security for industrial IoT networks. Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and IT cybersecurity and network teams to ensure secure and resilient operations. Technology Evaluation & Continuous Improvement: Research and assess emerging technologies, recommend strategic improvements, and drive continuous innovation to support world-class manufacturing practices. Project Leadership: Plan and lead IT projects using Agile/Scrum or waterfall methodologies, ensuring timely and successful delivery. Qualifications: Proven experience in industrial IoT, IT/OT integration, and manufacturing systems Strong knowledge of AVEVA PI systems and industrial data architecture Familiarity with cybersecurity principles in OT environments Experience leading global projects and defining IT standards Excellent communication and collaboration skills


Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end ownership and responsibility of the PIMS (Process Information Management System) environment, including:
  • Providing global application and architecture maintenance and support, assisting users with all shopfloor and manufacturing-related IT topics.
  • Installing and monitoring AVEVA PI interfaces, servers, and user tools.
  • Administering the AVEVA PI architecture system, with global architecture experience preferred.
  • Creating, monitoring, and maintaining AVEVA PI Tags.
  • Developing solutions in PI Vision, Asset Framework, PI Batch, and other related tools.
  • Managing the life cycle of the PIMS architecture.
  • Manage advanced project management on a global scale, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and following Agile/Scrum, Prince 2, and V-model project management methodologies.
  • Technical Skills Required:
  • System Administration: Installation, configuration, and maintenance of real-time data historian components and architecture.
  • Data Administration: Configuring data points and tags, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
  • Cyber Security:
  • Implementing security measures for the data historian system.
  • Managing user access and permissions.
  • Ensuring compliance with security policies.
  • Reporting and Visualization:
  • Creating and managing reports using visualization tools.
  • Developing dashboards and visualizations for data analysis.
  • IT Infrastructure Knowledge:
  • Understanding networking technologies, protocols, and configurations.
  • Knowledge of firewalls and their setup.
  • Server Management:
  • Experience with Windows Server administration.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Database Management:
  • Proficiency in SQL Server administration.
  • Knowledge of database backup and recovery procedures.
  • Cloud Services:
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Understanding of cloud-based data storage and management.
  • System Integration:
  • Ability to integrate the PI System with other enterprise systems.
  • Knowledge of API and web services.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial IoT, Process Control and Instrumentation Technologies, or a related field.
  • AVEVA PI and related products system administration training.
  • Trained in project management methodologies (certifications are a plus).
  • Knowledge of SAP modules used within the operations domain is beneficial.
