Maintenance Technician

Join Clariant as a Maintenance Technician and bring your technical expertise to our Absorbents & Additives team. This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and production equipment. You will support planned and annual maintenance across multiple departments, as well as major overhauls, shutdowns, and maintenance projects. The role also contributes to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime. You will have the opportunity to mentor other technicians and share technical knowledge and best practices. Collaboration with engineering and production teams will support equipment upgrades, capital projects, and process improvements. This position is scheduled for 2nd shift and plays an important role in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.


Responsibilities

  • Lead annual and planned maintenance activities across multiple departments, including I-Room, Dryer, Warehouse, Quality, and ABQ locations, in collaboration with leadership.
  • Independently plan, coordinate, and execute major overhauls, shutdowns, and capital maintenance projects from start to finish.
  • Manage and maintain accurate spare parts inventory in SAP, including creating and closing work notifications and orders, issuing parts, and identifying reorder needs.
  • Perform Level I and Level II maintenance tasks at an expert level and train other technicians on maintenance procedures.
  • Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and increase maintenance efficiency.
  • Lead or support formal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for critical equipment failures, document findings, and present recommendations to engineering and management.
  • Demonstrate full proficiency in LOTO/LOTOTO procedures and verify compliance for yourself and others.
  • Follow and apply hot work, general work, elevated work, and other required permit procedures.
  • Take ownership of additional projects and tasks as assigned by supervision.
  • Mentor and guide Level I technicians on maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and best practices.
  • Weld, fabricate parts, read blueprints, and perform related maintenance activities as required.
  • Replace and repair pneumatic cylinders, solenoid valves, directional control valves, and air preparation units, including filters, regulators, and lubricators.
  • Inspect and maintain air lines, tubing, and fittings for leaks, wear, or damage, and perform necessary repairs to maintain system efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering on capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process improvements, providing maintenance expertise during design and implementation.

 

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Preferred: Certificate or degree in welding, PLC programming, machining, electrical work, or a related technical field.
