Indirect TAX Process Lead (m/f/d)

We are looking for an Indirect Tax Process Lead to manage end-to-end indirect tax compliance and reporting across North America. In this role, you will be responsible for US Sales & Use Tax and Canadian GST/HST processes, ensuring accuracy and full regulatory compliance across all applicable jurisdictions. You will play a key role in driving tax process automation and continuous improvement initiatives within our Global Tax Center of Excellence. This is a high-impact position that bridges compliance, technology, and cross-functional collaboration to shape the future of tax operations at Clariant.

 

 

What will you be doing?

  • Manage US Sales & Use Tax compliance across all applicable states and oversee Canadian GST/HST compliance and filing.
  • Monitor tax law changes and maintain Vertex configuration and tax determination rules for NORAM operations.
  • Ensure accurate tax determination in SAP transactions and coordinate tax registrations across US states and Canadian provinces.
  • Own the end-to-end exemption certificate management process, including centralized repository maintenance and quality controls.
  • Define and optimize workflows for collecting, validating, and storing exemption certificates in coordination with Sales, Customer Service, and GCC teams.
  • Lead continuous improvement and tax process automation initiatives, while developing and maintaining comprehensive process documentation.
  • Support the Head of Tax Operations with SLA/KPI measurement and promote a Lean culture across the team.
  • Serve as the Tax CoE point of contact for NORAM indirect tax matters, collaborating with Local Finance, GCC, IT, and Global Tax teams.
 


 
What are we looking for?

  • College degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Tax Law, Accounting, or a related field
  • Professional tax or accounting qualification
  • 3–7+ years of hands-on, multi-state US Sales & Use Tax compliance experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in Vertex configuration within a NORAM environment
  • Proven experience in Canadian GST/HST compliance and filing
  • Experience in exemption certificate program management
  • Proficiency in SAP (FI/SD modules)
  • Strong knowledge of tax automation tools and digital transformation
  • Language skills:
    • English C1
    • Portuguese and/or Spanish would be an advantage
