Operations and Maintenance Coordinator

Clariant is currently looking for a Maintenance Operations Coordinator to support the Catalysts business unit in Louisville, KY. This role serves as the primary liaison between Production and Maintenance, sitting within the operations team while coordinating closely with maintenance. The Maintenance Operations Coordinator drives the planning, prioritization, and execution of maintenance activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations. This position requires someone who is highly organized, people-oriented, and able to translate information effectively between groups, like a process scheduler or engineer. Strong SAP knowledge is essential. The role also plays a critical leadership part in breakdown management, safety oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives within the facility. Responsibilities

•    Review, prioritize, and close work notifications; manage backlog and reassign minor tasks to production
•    Collaborate with planners to develop schedules and respond to urgent maintenance needs
•    Ensure work quality meets safety, housekeeping, and compliance standards
•    Train staff on SAP/MES; lead breakdown response and troubleshooting
•    Implement equipment prep procedures, SMED studies, and reliability initiatives
•    Drive continuous improvement using maintenance and production KPIs
•    Act as ESHA lead and Plant Incident Commander; ensure team emergency readiness
•    Oversee ESHA training; ensure regulatory and internal policy compliance
•    Ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance tasks (e.g., SAMCO, PSM)
•    Gather feedback from production/maintenance teams to improve scheduling and performance


 

Requirements

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field or 10+ years of relevant operations leadership experience
•    5–10 years of production management experience in chemical manufacturing; strong mechanical and spatial aptitude; experienced in root cause analysis, lean principles, and Six Sigma methodologies
•    High proficiency in SAP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and workflow systems
•    Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
•    Service-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction
