Senior Data Stewardship & Governance Specialist, Master Data (m/f/d)

Job ID: 41337  |  Location: Munich, Bavaria, Germany | Work Model: Hybrid

Clariant is a focused, sustainable, and innovative specialty chemical company. We connect our customers to value-adding and sustainable solutions for products used in countless everyday applications. Our solutions contribute to our customers' sustainability targets while prioritizing our own. We are committed to creating value through innovation and sustainability for our customers, stakeholders, and the environment.

As Senior Data Stewardship & Governance Specialist, you pair governance authority with hands-on SAP expertise. You own master data as a strategic asset across the BU, set the standards, build the governance framework that delivers them, and hold cross-functional partners accountable. The role brings together Supply Chain, Sales, Production, Controlling, IT, and central MDM around a single, coherent master data agenda, covering SAP Material Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), Finance (FI), Controlling (CO), and Sales and Distribution (SD). It calls for someone who understands not just that master data must be correct, but how specific field configurations and value ranges shape planning, costing, procurement, production, and sales decisions every day.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and operate the master data governance framework across SAP MM, PP, FI, CO, and SD: standards, definitions, value ranges, RACI, policies, and KPIs and ensure its documentation and adoption.
  • Provide operational expertise and best-practice guidance on SAP master data field configuration, value ranges, and settings, translating business intent into the right master data choices and challenging proposed configurations on operational grounds.
  • Define and own the BU's master data strategy and roadmap (operational and strategic horizons), including the platform and capability agenda for monitoring, automation, and process intelligence.
  • Oversee the design, prioritization, and continuous evolution of master data quality monitoring (dashboards, pipelines, anomaly detection); define what to measure, sign off on how, and ensure outputs drive corrective action.
  • Lead the harmonization and standardization of master data for high-impact material populations, ensuring consistency, reliability, and execution excellence across plants and regions.
  • Drive the formal nomination of Data Owners across business functions and broker cross-functional definition and trade-off decisions when functions disagree on master data rules or priorities.
  • Represent the BU's master data agenda externally, to corporate IT, corporate MDM, and peer BUs and ensure BU interests are represented in enterprise-level decisions.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; certifications in data management or governance (CDMP, DAMA) are a plus
  • 8+ years of experience in master data management, data governance, or supply chain digital roles, ideally in chemicals, pharma, or other process industries
  • Hands-on operational expertise with SAP master data across MM, PP, FI, CO, and SD, with a working understanding of how field configurations and value ranges shape planning, costing, procurement, production, and sales decisions
  • Proven track record of establishing data governance frameworks and driving cross-functional decisions in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, without relying on formal authority
  • Structured problem-solver with the range to own a multi-year roadmap and the hands-on agility to resolve day-to-day data quality issues.
  • Familiarity with master data platforms or process intelligence tools (Signavio, SAP MDG, Collibra, Informatica) is a plus

Our Offer

  • The opportunity to make a significant impact through data-driven transformation
  • A collaborative working environment with cross-functional teams
  • Professional development opportunities in a global specialty chemicals company
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package
