Head of Operations

The Head of Operations Novara is responsible for the overall management and optimization of the catalyst production site Novara, including developing and guiding an effective site team. This includes managing all site activities to ensure best-value production, reliable customer deliveries, and full compliance with quality specifications and regulations. The role involves implementing manufacturing strategies, developing the site according to business unit strategy, and managing site development to align capacities and capabilities with business requirements.

 


Responsibilities

  • Lead site operations to achieve business unit objectives in EHS, financial performance, and production targets.
  • Implement and maintain Clariant policies and management systems across the Novara site.
  • Manage COGS and operational budgets while optimizing resources including raw materials, personnel, capital, and energy.
  • Ensure production quality meets agreed standards and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 compliance.
  • Manage EHS responsibilities in accordance with corporate policies and local legislation requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement through LEAN, Kaizen initiatives, and operational excellence programs.
  • Identify and execute investment projects and strategic concepts to enhance site performance.
  • Ensure staff development through qualifications, training, and education programs, and collaborate with R&D department.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in natural sciences or engineering
  • 5-10 years of experience in Production, Engineering, or similar management positions
  • Chemical/Process Industry background with relevant operational experience
  • Strong communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement
  • Motivation and leadership skills to drive team performance
  • Representation skills for internal and external stakeholder management
  • Analytical skills to assess and optimize operational performance
  • Languages:
    • English and Italian fluent
