Chemical Operator

Clariant is currently looking for a Chemical Operator to support the Care Chemicals business unit in Clear Lake, TX. The Chemical Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of chemical processes within the facility. This role involves operating field and Distributed Control System (DCS) equipment, adhering to safety regulations, troubleshooting process issues, and maintaining compliance with all site, local, state, and federal requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This is a full time, onsite opportunity that involves rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet production goals. Responsibilities

•    Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
•    Actively participate in the site safety program, including safety committees, Management of Change (MOCs), and Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs)
•    Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements
•    Perform housekeeping and 5S activities as part of daily operations
•    Complete production batches on time, following the scheduled plan
•    Operate chemical processes according to training and unit instructions, including both field operations and Distributing Control System (DCS) work
•    Accurately report daily emissions and waste data
•    Properly complete and manage work permits, such as Hot Work and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
•    Communicate effectively with fellow operators and shift supervisors to ensure smooth operations
•    Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment or process issues
•    Maintain technical knowledge and participate in ongoing training
•    Assist in reviewing and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as assigned
 


 

Requirements

•    High School Diploma with 5+ years of relevant DCS and field operations experience or Process Operator Certificate
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a chemical plant or similar industrial environment
•    Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Process Operator Control Systems i.e. PI View
•    Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
•    Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
•    Strong communication and attention to detail
•    Commitment to safety and compliance
