We are looking for a results-driven (Senior) Manager – National Tax & Tax Governance to join our Global Tax team within the Finance function. In this role, you will take full ownership of Clariant's Swiss tax agenda while contributing to global tax governance, compliance, and process improvement initiatives. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Tax and based at our site in Pratteln, Switzerland, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a robust and forward-looking tax framework for a multinational organization.
Responsibilities
Swiss Tax: Own and manage Clariant’s overall Swiss tax position across all relevant taxes.
- Cover corporate income tax, withholding tax, stamp duties, and the Swiss tax aspects of cash pooling and financing arrangements, including related compliance, assessments, audits, rulings, tax planning, and negotiations with tax authorities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Swiss tax authorities and ensure that Swiss tax risks, positions, obligations, and opportunities are identified, evaluated, documented, and addressed.
- Assess and manage the Swiss tax implications of group-wide activities, including transfer pricing, intercompany financing, cash pooling, restructurings, supply-chain changes,
Pillar Two and Tax Governance: Own the end-to-end governance, strategic direction, supervision, and accountability for Clariant’s global minimum tax and Pillar Two process and coordinate selected tax-governance processes.
- Set and maintain the Pillar Two methodology, governance, data flows, controls, timelines, review, escalation, and reporting framework.
- Oversee and challenge calculations, tax-accounting inputs, and compliance work performed by local teams and external advisers, without directly executing each jurisdiction’s underlying calculations or filings.
- Coordinate external-adviser support for automated Pillar Two calculations and compliance solutions, ensuring quality, consistency, effective delivery, and cost discipline.
- Develop practical management information to monitor tax risks, controls, deadlines, and process performance.
- Support the Global Head of Tax in designing, building, and implementing the Tax Control Framework, including responsibilities, key controls, documentation standards, monitoring, and remediation.
Collaboration with other roles:
- Coordinate the Swiss tax aspects of M&A and restructuring projects, while the relevant International Tax and M&A Tax specialists retain ownership of the broader transaction and group tax analysis.
- Contribute the tax-process, governance, and control perspective to the SwiftX agenda and related Finance transformation initiatives.
- Work closely with local Tax and Finance teams, Accounting, Controlling, Treasury, Legal, IT, and external advisers to ensure consistent execution, clear interfaces, appropriate challenge, and timely escalation.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Tax Law, or a related field
- Certified Swiss Tax Expert qualification (or in progress)
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a Big4 firm or an in-house tax department of a multinational company
- Solid knowledge of IFRS, Swiss GAAP, and Swiss tax law; strong interest in developing international tax expertise
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Self-driven, highly motivated, and comfortable operating with a high degree of ownership and accountability
- Strong analytical mindset with a hands-on, pragmatic approach to problem-solving
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels
- High level of integrity, dependability, and ethical conduct in all interactions
