Electrical / Instrumentation Team Leader

We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Team Leader to join our BU Catalysis and Energy team, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of our electrical and instrumentation systems. This position offers the opportunity to drive operational excellence while fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of electrical and instrumentation artisans, providing mentorship, performance management, and training opportunities to build technical capabilities
  • Supervise and optimize all electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities across the site, ensuring maximum equipment availability and plant reliability
  • Manage and control the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining quality standards
  • Plan and execute scheduled maintenance shutdowns, coordinating resources and activities to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 18001, and ISO 14001 standards, maintaining all quality, safety, and environmental requirements
  • Drive safety excellence by adhering to all PPE requirements, conducting planned job observations, investigating non-conformances, and promoting a zero-incident culture
  • Conduct failure investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence, continuously improving equipment reliability and performance
  • Coordinate work order management in SAP, ensuring proper planning, execution, feedback capture, and documentation of all maintenance activities
  • Manage contractor relationships and oversee external service providers to ensure quality work delivery and compliance with site standards
  • Oversee calibration programs for measurement and instrumentation equipment, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Contribute to cross-functional collaboration by participating in planning and production meetings, aligning maintenance strategies with operational goals
  • Maintain housekeeping excellence through 5S methodologies, creating a safe, organized, and efficient work environment

 

Requirements

  • N6 Electrical qualification with valid Trade Test Certificate (essential requirement)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within a heavy industry or chemical manufacturing environment
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and delivering results through people development and accountability
  • Strong technical expertise in electrical systems, instrumentation, control systems, and maintenance management principles
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and SAP maintenance management systems
  • Electrical Installation Practitioner Certificate (advantageous)
  • MV Switching Certificate and Certified Industrial Gas Practitioner credentials (advantageous)
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, with thorough knowledge of chemical plant safety protocols and risk management
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and influence stakeholders at all levels
