The Senior Process Manager Logistics APAC (SPM) leads the operational logistics organization across the APAC region (China, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Australia), overseeing Import & Export activities, Transport Management, Logistics Sourcing, and Customs & Trade Control operations. This role drives cost optimization and sustainable logistics solutions while ensuring seamless daily operations and continuous quality improvement to meet customer expectations.
The SPM develops and implements logistics solutions within the region, delivering proactive, value-added services to Business Units, functions, and customers in coordination with the Global GBS organization. Working closely with regional stakeholders and operational teams, the SPM implements global best practices based on central guidance while achieving productivity and quality targets through robust KPI management. The position includes conducting operational service reviews and managing relationships with logistics service providers to maintain and enhance service levels aligned with Clariant's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Execution
- Execute and optimize Import/Export operations, Transport Management, Warehouse Management, and supportive services (invoice verification, claim management, etc.)
- Implement standardized best practices defined by Global Process Experts across the APAC region
- Lead and develop a team of logistics professionals, providing coaching, capability development, and performance management
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational excellence standards
- Establish clear operational priorities and resource allocation to maximize efficiency and service delivery
Performance, Quality Management & Problem Solving
- Develop, track, and analyze comprehensive operational KPIs to drive continuous improvement and ensure quality standards
- Conduct regular quality reviews both internally and with logistics service providers
- Proactively identify operational risks and implement effective mitigation actions
- Identify operational bottlenecks and develop solutions to enhance efficiency
- Support innovation in logistics operations through technology adoption and process optimization
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary operational partner for Business Units, Order Management Teams, and regional/country operational teams
- Collaborate effectively with Global Process Experts and Logistics Solutions Services teams
- Manage and develop strategic relationships with logistics service providers, including regular service reviews and performance improvement initiatives
- Communicate transparently with all stakeholders regarding operational performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all logistics operations comply with relevant local and international regulations, trade compliance requirements, and company policies
- Maintain current awareness of evolving logistics regulations and implement necessary operational adjustments
- Oversee Customs & Trade Control activities to ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Supply chain or equivalent.
- >10+ years’ experience in logistics operations with cross regional know-how and competencies within logistics company, chemicals or any others.
- Team leading experience in logistics or supply chain execution.
- Experience in regional logistics and/or cross regional.
- Ability to drive people beyond own area of responsibility, experience in leading intercultural teams, collaborative and challenging mindset.
- Ability to lead changes in operations and to identify new service requirements to be addressed.
- International cross-culture exposure and ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of an organization as change agent
- Advanced business understanding and ability to conduct strategic/tactical process planning based on business needs.
