Senior IT Project Manager (M/F/D)

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead complex, large-scale IT initiatives that span across multiple business units and geographical regions from our Barcelona office. This role offers the opportunity to drive transformational projects with global impact while coaching the next generation of project management talent.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams of specialists to deliver large-scale projects with global reach across IT domains and multiple business units
  • Plan and manage project resources, schedules, and substantial budgets, ensuring timely delivery within scope and financial parameters
  • Oversee complex solutions involving SAP and Non-SAP IT applications, M&A initiatives, and Technology Operations projects
  • Partner with project requestors to understand their true business needs and creatively deliver optimal solutions that drive business value
  • Manage and escalate issues appropriately, combining technical expertise with strategic thinking to resolve complex challenges
  • Coach and mentor less experienced project managers to elevate overall project management maturity across the organization
  • Define and continuously improve project preparation and execution processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Manage vendor relationships effectively, including contract negotiation and performance management, to maintain support and deliver new features cost-effectively
  • Take accountability for completing projects within agreed scope, timeline, and budget while ensuring compliance with all internal and external regulations
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks in collaboration with project requestors and IT domains to deliver projects as efficiently as possible
  • Maintain strong functional business process knowledge and foster close collaboration with business units and global functions
  • Navigate critical project deployment phases with composure and decisive leadership

 

Requirements

  • Higher education or equivalent degree in information management, computer science, business management, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience leading international IT projects in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • At least 5 years of experience in leadership or influencing roles within IT environments
  • Proven experience in IT supplier management, including contract negotiation and performance oversight
  • Strong financial management capabilities with demonstrated experience managing IT project budgets
  • Expertise in SAP and Non-SAP IT applications, M&A projects, and Technology Operations initiatives
  • Excellent consulting and project management skills with familiarity in international, multi-cultural settings
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus)
  • Systematic and analytical problem-solving abilities with a track record of delivering innovative solutions
  • Strong coaching and mentoring capabilities with the ability to develop talent and build high-performing teams
  • Experience running agile and hybrid projects (Scrum Master Certification is required).
  • Nice to have: PMP or some official Project Management Certification, experience with SAP S/4HANA implementation projects, and hands-on involvement in large-scale SAP transformation initiatives
