We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Analyst to join our Quality Assurance team within the Business Unit Catalysis and Energy. In this critical role, you will ensure product quality and compliance by analyzing raw materials, in-process products, final products, water, environmental samples, and other materials according to established analytical schedules and specifications. Reporting to the QESH Manager, this position plays a vital role in supporting production operations and maintaining our high-quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Receive and record samples systematically, confirming them against sampling schedules to ensure complete traceability
- Prepare samples for analysis following established quality assurance methods and standard operating procedures
- Conduct accurate analyses of raw materials, in-process products, final products, water, and environmental samples using appropriate analytical techniques
- Calculate and interpret analytical results against relevant specifications to determine product conformance
- Report deviations immediately to the Production Supervisor when results fall outside specification limits
- Enter analytical data into appropriate results data sheets with precision and within required timeframes (30 minutes from sampling)
- Perform first-line maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory instruments to ensure optimal availability and performance
- Calibrate laboratory instrumentation according to relevant methods and required schedules to maintain measurement accuracy
- Execute standards monitoring to verify instrument accuracy and reliability of analytical results
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization through regular housekeeping and 5S activities
- Adhere to all safety protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and site safety requirements
- Prepare and store retention samples of products according to the sample retention policy for quality documentation
Requirements
- Diploma in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (required)
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory environment
- Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation including operation, calibration, and basic troubleshooting
- Proficiency in data entry and documentation with ability to maintain accurate records
- Time management capabilities to deliver results within tight timeframes and meet production schedules
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to identify deviations and take appropriate corrective actions
- Commitment to safety and quality standards with understanding of GMP and laboratory best practices
- Collaborative approach with strong communication skills to work effectively with production teams
